Sopranos Paulie Walnuts debuts new cologne for men
His alter ego, Paulie Walnuts, thought nothing of taking out anyone from a mob boss to an old lady, but actor Tony Sirico has more sophisticated business plans in mind. Sirico, who played the psychotic but always entertaining silver-haired mafia soldier on the hit HBO series “The Sopranos,” has launched a new cologne for men. No word on whether or not it smells like baked ziti.
If you smell like you’ve been sleeping with the fishes, “Sopranos” co-star Tony Sirico has just the cologne for you.
Sirico, who played coifed capo Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri on the Emmy Award-winning HBO show, last night unveiled his new fragrance – named Paolo Per Uomo – at a bash in TriBeCa.
“It’s a man’s cologne that women love,” Sirico told The Post.
The 66-year-old Brooklyn-born actor said the fragrance – which translates from Italian into Paul for Men – reeks of macho manliness.
Sirico worked the room at the Tribeca Rooftop – and showed off his new smell.
“I was always well-groomed,” Sirico said, explaining why he would want to create the musk.
“You could smell me coming,” he added.
The cologne – advertised under the catchphrase “Make It Known You Mean Business” – is sold in a dark blue and gray bottle.
Paulie Walnuts is one of the all-time greatest characters ever. My favorite episode of “The Sopranos” is the “Pine Barrens” episode, in which Paulie and Christopher end up stranded overnight after one of their targets escapes. Paulie is forced to eat ketchup packets to keep up his strength, and wears carpet remnants on his feet after his very expensive leather shoes are destroyed in the snow. It’s good to see Tony Sirico doing something again- it must be hard to live that role down.
Tony Sirico is pictured at the St. Jude Children’s Hospital benefit on May 24, 2008. The group photo of Sirico with his former co-star, Vincent Curatola, who played the doomed NY mob boss Johnny Sack, is for Sopranos fans who really miss the show. Photo credit: WENN.
